RiteTracker requests background location access exclusively on the bus pilot's device. This permission is essential to the core function of the app — if the pilot switches to another application (e.g., to answer a call or check messages), the app must continue broadcasting the bus's GPS position so that employees can track it in real time without interruption.
Background location is never requested on employee devices. Employees view bus location data but do not transmit any location information of their own.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the employee transport service described above.
All data is stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.
Trip data — including bus location, speed, stop timestamps, and boarding lists — is cleared automatically at the end of every trip. No historical location trails are retained between trips. Location data exists only while a trip is active.
We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties for commercial purposes.
The only third-party service involved is Google Firebase (database infrastructure), which is governed by Google's own privacy policy and data processing terms. Firebase is used solely as a transport layer — no data is analysed or retained by Firebase beyond what is necessary for the real-time sync function.
Access to the bus management controls is protected by a PIN known only to the designated pilot. Firebase security rules restrict write access so that only authorised operations are permitted. All communication between the app and Firebase occurs over HTTPS.
RiteTracker is intended solely for use by Rite Digital employees and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Effective" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
